The Northlands Tavern has been around the block a few times now. The iconic establishment previously known as The Round House Tavern was renamed its original name The Northlands Tavern in 2006, when owners Jill and Nev took over the venue.
Since then they’ve made sure that the people who visit the Tavern know that they are less like customers, and more like old friends.
But where does this cheerful approach come from? Well from the top of course!
When the pair started in hospitality, they had come from a hospitality recruitment and logistics background and knew that the skills they had learnt would transfer across.
Jill explains that she had been on the opening team for the Burswood Hotel in 1987 and that it has helped build the skills she needed at The Northlands Tavern.
“It was all to do with personnel and training, which we knew would be important for when we took over TNT,” said Jill.
This has been a key in their success of creating a business that is full of longtime loyal patrons, along with new faces regularly popping in due to the friendly atmosphere.
Jill thinks that the long-time loyal patrons and new patrons are really the best part about the business.
For many who visit the establishment the food is the one thing they can’t stop talking about! Everything is fresh and to top it off the service is exceptional.
Jill stated that they are incredibly proud of their staff.
“They treat our business as if it were their own and really make an effort to make sure everyone leaves having felt they have had a great time,” said Jill.
And a good time they have! All customers are made to feel that they have been paid personal attention and treated as a valued customer.
This doesn’t matter if they are having a punt in the sports bar, or if they are having a sit-down meal with the family, everyone receives the same friendly service that Jill and Nev pride themselves on.
But really, the most important part of The Northlands Tavern is that it still owner operated.
“Most local pubs now don’t see a lot of owner operators, but for us, we love being surrounded by people and seeing them have a good time,” said Jill.
If that attitude doesn’t get you through the door, we don’t know what will!
