The old saying goes, you don’t need a silver fork to eat good food! Never has that been truer than at The Northlands Tavern! Particularly with our brand new head chef! Gary Lafuente, joined our team 3 years ago and has recently been promoted to the position of Head Chef, delivers consistently delicious food time and time again to very happy patrons of our large open plan restaurant, Ruby’s Bar and Grill.
With a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management and Certificate in Culinary Arts and over 16 years of experience in the industry Gary’s knowledge and skills are second to none! Before working in Perth’s tavern style establishments for the past 8 years Gary banked up 2 years’ experience in cruise line kitchen and dining in Italy and an impressive 6 year’s in 5-star dining and hotel establishments in the Philippines.
Keeping things fresh in his cooking and our kitchen Gary often plays jokes on members of staff, leaving messages in the form of carved animals and words in lemons and other fruit! All jokes aside, Gary has special skills in fruit and vegetable carving a lot with a whole host of special skills that bring a unique nature and flavor to his dishes. That’s not to say he hasn’t mastered the old classic’s as well!
Gary’s level of talent and expertise are proving to be a huge hit in the short time he’s been with our team. Don’t just take our word for it! We’re putting you to the challenge. Get your cravat on, your score cards out and be the judge for yourself!
We’re open for lunch from 11am – 8pm Sunday and Monday and from 11am to 9pm Tuesday to Saturday. Breakfast is served all day on Saturday and Sunday from 12noon. On UFC days, breakfast begins at 930am. To view our full menu click here
